The School That Runs on Kindness and Solar Power

Image
What if you entered a school for the first time, where all the appliances are energized by the sun, students are greeted with big smiles and they get their motivation from the kindness of the teachers and other students? That is exactly the kind of school that I would be very happy to see in the future and I have to admit that I don’t think it’s very far away. The school I am talking about? It is powered by solar energy and smiles. Students have the freedom to express themselves. Teachers don’t just teach math and science, but they also teach you how to be a decent human being. No one is going to be left out from the class just because of their race or status. Every rooftop in this school has solar panels. They soak up the sun and power everything inside such as fans, laptops, even the vending machines. There are no huge electricity bills or carbon footprints. The school even stores extra energy in big battery walls for rainy days. Learning stations have been designed for the stud...

My Hero Fights Hunger

Image
She’s not famous. She doesn’t wear a cape. But an unsung hero in our city. Ms. Shinobu, who lives in an apartment near the train station is a former primary school teacher. Life isn’t easy for the people in her neighborhood, because many work for long hours. Nowadays, groceries are keep getting more expensive, even instant noodles are more common than fresh vegetables in a common household. But Ms. Shinobu believed food shouldn't be something you have to strive for. So one day, she decided to arm herself with gardening gloves and started growing plants. Meanwhile, she also grew hope within the neighbourhood. It all began with a few trays of bean sprouts and leafy vegetables on her balcony. After some time, she took it further. Therefore, she made up her mind to go to the rooftop of the apartment and started changing the rooftop into a garden. The neighbours were convinced that she was only doing it for a past time hobby, however, when she began to call others for help, they changed...

A Day Without Water

Image
You know how some people say, “You never know what you’ve got until it’s gone”. That hits hard when it comes to water. Let’s imagine just one full day without water. I wake up feeling still quite sleepy, go to brush my teeth and where is the water from the tap? Completely dry. No water. Not even a single drop. So there will be no water for shower, clean clothes, and definitely coffee. Mom is in the kitchen looking completely stressed because she can’t boil water for cooking breakfast for the family, and the dirty plates from last night are still piling up in the sink. We all are already running late for work and school, and the day hasn’t even started.    At school, it gets worse, way worse than I think. The toilets are all locked up, yet somehow the stench from the toilet escaped and the smell is disgusting. Everyone in class is uncomfortable, whispering about how the waterless morning affect them from getting a shower or washing their faces in the morning. It is time for sch...

My Invention to Save The Earth

Image
The Earth is in trouble, whether it is climate change, pollution, and rising temperatures. There are the things we hear about all the time now. The oceans are full of plastic waste, the weather is getting warmer and warmer, and animals are dying for nothing because everything comes down to human. Then it got me thinking, what if I could come up with something that actually helps the situation. The answer I pull out is an invention that could fix these problems, even if it only fix a little bit. That’s where I have this idea which comes in a small, smart gadget that could clean the ocean and help save the planet. Picture this, a little floating pods scattered across the ocean, doing their job quietly and efficiently. I call them AquaCure Pods and they’re like ocean cleaners without human controlling them. Each of them having solar panels on top to absorb sunlight because solar powered energy is cost efficient. These cleaners flows across the sea, sucking in water, while filteri...

The World I Want to Live In

Image
Everyone has their vision of the world they want to live in. I am no different. As I grow and learn more about the world around me, I begin to imagine what is the world that I want to live in. Maybe a world where world peace is not just a dream, maybe a world justice system is not based on how wealthy or powerful an individual is, or just maybe a world without racism and bullying in any sorts of way. In this blog, I will share what the world that I want to live in looks like and why I believe it is something that humanity must strive for.   In this world, everyone will have their voice heard and respected by others, so no one will be silenced because of their different background, beliefs, or status with society. In my world, no leaders could abuse their power for self-interest, same as police brutality to innocent people. Racial discrimination will not exist, so people come together as friends and understand each other as they encounter one another on the street. Children gr...
